HOW THE SONDHEIM AWARDS WORK

Each fall, schools across Connecticut and Massachusetts are invited to register. Upon registration, schools and students are able to participate in a range of activities and educational opportunities throughout the academic year.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

  • ADJUDICATION

Have a team of industry professionals attend your school’s musical. These professionals will provide written feedback that will be shared with your program upon completion of the awards season.

  • AWARDS

Have your musical considered for awards as a part of the adjudication process.

  • GALA

Attend a Tony Awards® style gala celebrating excellence in high school musical theater! The Black Tie Gala features performances by students and nominated best musicals, along with special appearances by industry professionals!

  • MASTERCLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Participate in multiple masterclasses and workshops presented throughout the year.

  • TEACHERS WORKSHOP

Participate in a special workshop curated for and connecting theater educators.

  • BEST ACTOR/ACTRESS BOOTCAMP

Best Actor & Best Actress nominees participate in a multi-day bootcamp where they work with the Stephen Sondheim Awards team members and special guest artists from NYC! Winners of the Best Actress & Best Actor Awards category will attend the National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (The Jimmy Awards®) in NYC.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS

Multiple scholarships are presented to students each year to support their endeavors as emerging young artists.

  • CONNECTIONS

Be a part of the Stephen Sondheim Awards Educators Facebook group to share exciting news, locate that costume piece you just can’t find, and much more!
